Brighton Red Hat Convention – a report by Jenny, Princess Moggy - of Gadabouts Wisbech

Our group stayed at the Grand hotel along with 250 other Red Hats who had travelled from near and far, some from Ireland and Belgium.

The theme for the weekend was ‘Western’ so Friday night was line dancing and as you can see from the photo we

dressed as Saloon girls and so many people took our photos, now we know what film stars feel like! It was great as we

had all made a lot of effort with our outfits. The following night was ‘Glitz’ so we dressed accordingly and with an Elvis entertainer

we danced the night away, and did we dance ! ! A visit to the Pavillion was arranged during the day and we had the usual questions and admirations

from the public on our way through the streets of Brighton. Roll on the 2012 convention, which is on our doorstep at Centre Parks Thetford

Hi
Thought you might like to see the video of  our happy day on a float at the Wisbech Rose Fair.

Wisbech is a small market town in the county of Cambridgeshire England. Every year they hold a Rose Fair, which ends with a parade of floats.  It is all for charity. This year THE GADABOUT GIRLS of the Red Hat Society decided to enter. Alas they were not the winning float, but boy did they enjoy themselves.

Kind regards Carol (queengadabout)

Of course the biggest even so far this year has been the Royal Wedding.  Lots of chapters had special Hen Nights or Wedding Day parties so please send in your pictures

ROYAL WEDDING NEWS:

We celebrated in style here in France and my little commune was awash with union flags and giggling women!

We had a hen party at a local bar two weeks before the wedding, where we downed a few cocktails and toasted Kate (who unfortunately could not be with us!).  Then on the day of the wedding seventeen of us watched the wedding on my TV and then held a traditional British street party outside my house.  The house was decorated with flags and balloons and all the neighbours were taking photographs all day.  Two newspapers came to interview us and take photos, and the mayor even dropped by to wish us well.

We are now thinking of having an afternoon of making Princess Beatrice hats!!

Here's to the happy couple

Guests at the Mock Wedding hosted by Queen Elizabeth (Ascot) had a great time with the fantasy event celebrating the Royal wedding with a luncheon.
Channel 7  Brisbane was there to record the festivities and  a photo of Queens Gloria and Jeanette (The Glorius Red Peppers of Morton)  holding a Union Jack with Kate and William's faces in the centre, was the back drop on the television News that night as the announcer introduced the stories of how Brisbane celebrated the Royal Event.
Jeanette  was really quite chuffed as the flag had been sent to her from England by Linda Queen LindyLou a Red Hat Queen in the UK.

These lovely ladies from the four chapters enjoyed a Champagne Ploughman's Lunch at New Hall Vineyards, everyone came in posh outfits of many colours as guests at the wedding of the year.  Queen LindyLou & Margaret Queen Millsy both surprised everyone with their bridal veils which caused much amusement.

A MK Hen Night to Celebrate the Royal Wedding. We held a Mother of the Bride Hat Competition, won by Julie Princess Jazzypants and we had a Dress the bride competition. This bought a whole new meaning to the use of kitchen rolls and toilet rolls!! We all had a wonderful time with 40 attendees from our combined Chapters. Queen Mary cut the cake and we all enjoyed a buffet and a glass of bubbly.

Cotswold Gems started with a Champagne Breakfast, watched

the ceremony then enjoyed a lovely finger buffet followed by the

delicious wedding cake made by our organiser, Saucy Sue.

The Team worked hard to make this a very special event for all

of us with lovely favours, games and beautiful decorations.

Everything was well organised with a lot of thought put into it and the

'Cotswold Gems' looked very regal and elegant, befitting the occasion.
